CRAIL BAXTERS, 1647-1743
[Extracted from the Craft Court Books of the Baxter Incorporation of Crail, 1647-1743 (B10/11/8), in St Andrews University Library. The first entry is dated 29 Sep 1647, although there is an earlier entry on Page 6, dated 15 Feb 1646, agreeing to past statutes and allowing them to stand. Then follows election of Deacons, interrupted by new statutes and election of journeymen to the craft. Page 3 lists apprentices as at 29 Sep 1647, and but there are too many to have been indentured on one day, and it is obvious that there are later undated entries in a different, clearer hand. The rear of the book details borrowings from the craft; there are some apprentice and journeymen entries (1721-43), and a list of Freemen, 1733-43]
