BROWN, WILLIAM: bound app to Robert Balfour for 6 yrs from June 15 1722; adm Freeman, Dec 28 1732; Deacon (1738-39); Beveridge (P 237-238) records a William Brown, wright, bap 13 Nov 1702, son of John Brown and Christian Brydie, who d 28 Dec 1788 aged 86; married to Elspat Watson, who d 10 Nov 1785 aged 87; son, Henry; if the two are the same person, it means that he began his app aged c 20yrs, which seems rather old; app/journeymen: George Ross (j1735); Thomas Dove (1736)

HORSBURGH, JAMES: bound app to William Fhielep [Philp] from 23 Feb 1714 - 23 Feb 1720; adm Freeman, March 2 1726; Deacon (1733); found guilty of committing actions in the Tolbooth [counter-voting], "contrary to the weel fair of the Craft," and was fined #5 Scots (Minute dated Sep 26 1733)

 

 

INGLIS, ALEXANDER: adm Freeman, 3 Oct 1705; for his "saverall abuses" done to the Trade, from a Minute dated 22 Sep 1715, he was not to attend any further meetings, in return for which the Trade were to discharge him of all debts owed by him, with the exception of one bond; son, James; app: James Inglis (1719)
