101 Hello Fife!looking for
information connecting the Numbers/Numes surname to Wemyss.
As Eoin Mor nan Uamh(ais) Mac Dubh is listed as a principal
ancester of Clan Wemyss (nan Uamhais ->
n'Uamhais-->Nuam(h)ais or something to that effect), I
think it may be possible that Numes arose as an alternative
and was perhaps anglicized to Numbers. I do have documents
connecting Numes to Numbers.glad to share anything that I
have on the name, and looking very much forward to hearing
from you!Tapaidh libh. Sile

Landsey 111 Just discovered Robert Cairns
b.1855 Wemyss/Buckhaven is not my GGGrandfather. I have this
1855 birth cert. if anyone wants details. From the 1871
marriage cert of Robert Cairns and Jane Wilson I now know
that my GGGGrandparents were Alexander Cairns and Mary
Whyte/White of Wemyss. Mary was daughter of Robert
Whyte/White and Mary Shaw of Wemyss. Alexander I believe is
son of James Cairns and Isobel Greig but not proved for
definite. This means Robert b.1955 son of Robert Cairns and
Margaret Wishart is a possible first cousin to the correct
Robert. And I still don't know where Granny Jean Hastie
Peter born Innerleven 1788 but living with Robert and Jane
Wilson Cairns in Wemyss on the 1881 census fits in. Anyone
got any connections. This Jean Hastie Peter cannot be found
on birth or deaths OPR or post 1855 fitting the 1788 birth
date. There is a Jean Hastie Peter married to James Peter in
1810 who had lots of children in Wemyss, but that marriage
does not fit agewise with anything. Any one else got Jean
Hastie Peter from Wemyss area in their notes. Thank You.

searching for information on my Paternal Grandmother, Mary
Robertson, daughter of John and Clara Robertson of
Cowdenbeath, Fife, Scotland. I have always been drawn to the
Scottish ancestry of my Grandmother, because of the beauty
and rich history of the country of Scotland, but also

any members of her immediate family. I guess, like us all I
am searching for my coordinates on this earth; what better
place to begin than Scotland? Katherine

the ocean. I have not been able to locate Andrew's
birthplace, parents, etc. His children born on the side of
the Atlantic were named William Wallace, Robert Morrison,
Andrew, Theodore, Walter Scott, and Albert Edward. He seemed
to want everyone to know he was of Scottish descent. Anyone
