Help

Use the buttons on the main menu to navigate the site.

Clicking on any underlined text will take you to the relevant page.

A menu at the bottom of each page allows you to quickly get back to the home page if you get lost, and also takes you to the search page and committee contact details.

If a page has a button at the top it, this will take you to the sub-menu for the section you are currently browsing

Clicking Print version at the bottom of the page allows you to remove the menu on the left for printing purposes. You should also use this function before you add a particular page to your bookmarks/favourites.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I join the society?

First look at the subscriptions page to find out the cost. Then go to the membership form. Print it out and send it to the address given at the bottom of the form. You can also send in a members interests form.

How can I get in touch with the society?

Statutory records (1855+) are available at New Register House in Edinburgh, or can be accessed online at
Scotland's People.

Where can I buy books about Fife?

The society sells many books about Fife - see the Publications page.

What other family history societies are there in Scotland?

These are listed on the Links page.

Can you help me with a problem I am having with my research?

As the committee members are all volunteers, it would lessen our workload if you could address your specific research queries to the mailing list (you will have to join this first if you have not already done so). This also opens up your query to a wider group of people and therefore means there is more likelihood of someone knowing the answer.

How do I submit a link for your links page?

Email Emma Reid who will look at your site and decide whether to add it to the links page.

Do you mind if I link to your page?

We would be quite happy for you to link to our page. You can do so without asking us for permission. We wish to make our site available to as wide an audience as possible.
